SABAH Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor called out two water concessionaires for failing to meet their supply obligations while speaking at a Chinese New Year celebration in Sandakan, today.
Hajiji did not mince his words, suggesting that sabotage could be at play in the district’s worsening water crisis while around 3,000 visitors attended the merry-making at the Yu Yuan Hall, here.
He warned that action would be taken against those responsible for ongoing disruptions in the east coast district.
“Two concessionaires, which are supposed to supply the maximum amount requested, are only providing partial supply due to certain issues. I will summon them and the Water Department director to resolve this matter.
“I don’t want any sabotage in Sabah’s water management, including in Sandakan. If there are, as Chief Minister, I will take action against them,” he said.
Water shortages have plagued Sandakan for weeks and have forced some residents to endure rationing and uncertainty over supply. - January 29, 2025.
