A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy was injured after being bitten by a python while he was about to relieve himself at his home in Apartment Prima Court, Saujana Melawati, in Kuala Lumpur yesterday afternoon.
According to Berita Harian, the incident was reported at 11 am when the child, known as Hadi, entered the bathroom in the master bedroom of the four-story residences.
His mother, Adibah Aziz, said her son was bitten by the snake when he lifted the toilet seat to urinate.
"At that time, I was cooking in the kitchen when I heard my child scream and rush out of the room with blood dripping.
"He (Hadi) informed that he had been bitten by a snake before I went out to ask the neighbours to immediately call foran ambulance and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM)."
"When the incident occurred, only I, Hadi, and my one-year-old child were at home," she told BH late last night.
Adibah said her child was then rushed to Ampang Hospital for treatment.
Hadi sustained injuries in his thighs and hand due to the python bite and is reported to be in stable condition.
"Probably because our residences is located near the National Zoo and surrounded by forests is the reason why many snakes are found in our area," he said.
Meanwhile, the Gombak District APM reported that they rushed to the location at 12:45 pm as soon as they were informed about the incident.
