Amirudin: Selangor-Bersatu cooperation to proceed despite PN deregistration
Amirudin Shari says the state government’s planned cooperation with Bersatu is separate from Perikatan Nasional - October 20, 2026

THE Selangor government’s planned cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is not expected to be affected by the reported cancellation of Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) registration, Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said.

Amirudin said the proposed arrangement was with Bersatu rather than PN, although he would review the position before confirming the next steps.

“We are not sure (about PN’s status). I need to check first. Perhaps in the next day or two, we will determine the position (on cooperation) with Bersatu.

“The cancellation of PN’s registration is an internal matter that they must resolve themselves. Our plan is with Bersatu, not PN,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to present professional certificates in water supply management technology.

Amirudin, who is also PKR vice-president, said the cooperation agreement between Bersatu and the Selangor government was expected to be signed next week, subject to confirmation.

“I need to wait for confirmation first, perhaps after the 25th or 26th,” he said.

Utusan Malaysia previously reported that the Registrar of Societies had decided to cancel PN’s registration under subparagraph 13(1)(c)(iv) of the Societies Act 1966.

The Registrar of Societies Malaysia said the decision followed PN’s response on Oct 12 to a notice issued on Sept 22. - October 20, 2026
