THE Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has launched OPS Pantau 2025, a nationwide operation that will run from March 2, 2025, to ensure compliance with regulations during the Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri period.
In a statement today, the ministry said the operation aims to monitor the supply and pricing of essential goods and services leading up to the festive season.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Seri Armizan Mohd Ali conducted a visit today to various locations, including Giant Supermarket in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, and the RAHMAH MADANI Sales Program at Pangsapuri Permai, KL, and Lotus's Kajang, Selangor.
The minister’s inspection was focused on addressing current issues related to the supply of goods and the implementation of the Rahmah Madani initiative.
OPS Pantau 2025 will target key locations such as Ramadan bazaars, Aidilfitri bazaars, public markets, wet markets, supermarkets, and retail stores.
KPDN will monitor the availability and pricing of key goods, including sugar, chicken, eggs, cooking oil, wheat flour, rice, fresh produce, and ingredients for making traditional treats.
The operation will also focus on ensuring compliance with the Maximum Price Scheme for the upcoming Hari Raya Puasa 2025, KPDN said.
The initiative will also emphasise frequent and targeted inspections to ensure that no price manipulation occurs, particularly during sales promotions.
KPDN will deploy enforcement teams using vehicles such as STAR Vans (Consumer Complaint and Resolution Action Squad), patrol cars, and motorcycles, in addition to operating an Enforcement Command Centre every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to handle consumer complaints and inquiries swiftly.
KPDN urges all traders to comply with relevant laws and commit to responsible business practices under the Biz-BERKAT initiative, promoting ethical and lawful trading. – March 2, 2025
