Civil servant found dead in Putrajaya, bound with cable ties

A CIVIL servant assigned to the Customs Department in Putrajaya was found dead in the office today with his neck and feet bound with cable ties.

It is learnt that the officer, who was from the Attorney General's Chambers, was found dead at the Treasury Office of the Finance Ministry.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Rusdi Mohd Isa said the 45-year-old victim was found lying unconscious on the floor at 10.56am.

He said a team of policemen was dispatched to the scene.

"They discovered the victim lying on the office floor with his legs and neck bound using cable ties," he said.

“No criminal elements were found at the scene. The case has been classified as sudden death,” he said in a statement.

He said police have obtained close-circuit television footage showing the deceased’s movements prior to the incident.

He said the body has been sent to Hospital Putrajaya for a post-mortem and advised the public against making speculations about the case.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance Malaysia (MOF) confirmed that there was a death incident at the MOF Complex today.

"The family of the deceased has already been informed about the matter by the authorities.

"MOF also expresses its condolences to the bereaved family and will cooperate fully with the police in their investigation," it said in a statement. – March 5, 2025
