PERMAISURI – Three family members, including a 1-year-old boy, had a terrifying moment when the four-wheel drive they were travelling in skidded on a bridge in Kg Sri Bayas here and almost plunged into the river below last night.

Setiu Fire and Rescue Station chief Zull Azman Jamaludin said the station received a distress call at 9.25pm, and upon arriving at the scene, found the vehicle on the edge of the bridge –  with its right front and rear tyres hanging over the side – and the victims still inside.

“The incident happened because the driver, Wan Mohamad Taufiq Ramli, 28, could not see the path as the bridge was submerged in about 0.3m of water and there was no railing on the sides of the bridge,” he said when contacted today.

He said Wan Taufiq was with his father, Ramli Mustafa, 62, and son, Wan Zafran, and were on their way to Setiu Hospital as the son had high fever.

Zull Azman said all the victims were rescued and sent to the hospital. – Bernama, December 20, 2020
