A WOMAN required eight stitches to her forehead after her car struck a buffalo along Jalan Ayer Hangat in Langkawi, yesterday.

Siti Syaima Ahmad, 29, was on her way to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star with her husband, Afiq Ali, 32, and their 8-year-old daughter, who needed heart treatment, when the incident occurred at 12:40 pm.

The car, a Toyota Vios, was being driven by a 41-year-old man.

"Only Siti Syaima sustained injuries. Her husband, their daughter—who has had a heart condition since birth—and the driver were all unharmed," stated Langkawi police chief Shariman Ashari in a statement today.

The accident took place near Taman Nilam when a buffalo unexpectedly leapt onto the road from the left, leaving the driver with no time to stop before colliding with the animal.

The car subsequently veered off the road.

Siti Syaima was then transported to Sultanah Maliha Hospital for treatment. – March 10, 2025
