DATUK Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, spent about six hours providing his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as part of an ongoing investigation.
The Bera Member of Parliament (MP) completed his session at the MACC headquarters at around 3:14 pm today.
Following the lengthy session, sources indicate that Ismail Sabri is expected to return tomorrow to continue his statement.
The former leader, who served as Malaysia's Prime Minister from 2020 to 2022, did not provide any additional information about the purpose or nature of the investigation during his departure.
His visit to the MACC headquarters has garnered attention, but Ismail Sabri has maintained a low profile regarding the ongoing proceedings.
Earlier today, he arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at 9:46 am, traveling in a black Audi and accompanied by a police patrol car.
He was seen smiling and waving to the waiting media outside the building, who had gathered since 8am.
On March 1, he was questioned for five hours at the MACC headquarters regarding hundreds of millions of ringgit spent on promotional and publicity expenditures during his administration from 2021 to 2022.
To date, the MACC has seized some RM170 million in cash, held in various international currencies, as well as 16kg of gold bullion worth around RM7 million. These seizures are part of an investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering linked to Ismail Sabri, who has been named a suspect in the probe.
MACC has also frozen 13 bank accounts containing over RM2 million as part of its investigation into Ismail Sabri. - March 13, 2025
