DEPUTY Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has called on all parties to work together in realising the Water Sector Transformation 2040 (WST 2040) agenda, which aims to create a more sustainable and competitive water sector while driving economic growth.

Launched in October of last year, WST 2040 also focuses on ensuring a high-quality water supply, as well as advancing science, technology, innovation, and economic growth.

In a Facebook post on World Water Day, Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, highlighted the importance of water as a vital resource for human needs, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development.

“From daily necessities like drinking and food preparation to agricultural and industrial use, every drop of water plays a crucial role in ensuring overall well-being," he wrote. "Without adequate water resources, life cannot thrive harmoniously, and ecosystem balance will be disrupted."

Fadillah emphasised that every drop of water is precious and must be used wisely, as waste not only impacts current generations but also threatens the well-being of future generations.

“Clean water resources are declining due to pollution and climate change, making it our shared responsibility to manage them efficiently and sustainably," he said. "Let’s work together to build a more sustainable future by preserving our water resources for Malaysia’s well-being. Happy World Water Day 2025.” – March 22, 2025
