THE ongoing investigation into the alleged Nvidia AI chip fraud, believed to have links to Malaysia, is still underway, with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) reaffirming its full cooperation with the relevant authorities.
MITI Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz assured the public that any updates on the case would be communicated promptly.
Speaking to the press following the Iftar Kasih Ukhwah Programme in Petaling Jaya last night, the minister highlighted the collaborative nature of the investigation.
"The investigation team consists of MITI along with relevant agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission," he said.
The probe centres around allegations that Nvidia AI chips, which were allegedly part of servers linked to fraudulent activities, were transported from Singapore to Malaysia. MITI had previously released a statement on March 3 confirming that it was investigating these claims.
The investigation follows statements made by Singapore’s Law and Home Affairs Minister, K. Shanmugam, who indicated that servers connected to the fraud case in Singapore may have contained Nvidia AI chips, which were subsequently moved to Malaysia. \
Reports from Singaporean media have suggested that the chips were embedded in servers from Dell and Supermicro, two prominent players in the server market, which were supplied to a company in Singapore before being transferred to Malaysia. – March 26, 2025
