THE Civil Defence Force rescued a stranded dolphin at the banks of the Melaka River near Banda Hilir this afternoon.

The public spotted the dolphin, which was trapped due to the low tide, and alerted the Civil Defence Force upon realising it was still alive.

According to The New Straits Times, Melaka Tengah Civil Defence Force officer Captain Aljibin Suddin said they received a distress call at 1.36pm and rushed to the location.

Using a winch, the team towed the dolphin into deeper waters.

"The dolphin was then handed over to a private boat operator who assisted in moving and releasing it into the open sea," he said.

The operation concluded at 3.23pm with the dolphin's release. - March 30, 2025
