A BOY’S body found in Sungai Kupang in Baling today is believed to be that of autistic boy Muhammad Fayyad Affan Mohd Fakhri, 4, who went missing on Friday.

Baling police chief Superintendent Azmi Mokhtar said the body was found about 500 metres away from the victim's home in Kampung Landak Paya.

According to reports, the body was found at 3:15 pm today by the Muhammad Fayyad 's family members who were searching along the banks of the Kupang River.

The body will be taken to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star and a post-mortem is expected by tomorrow.

The Baling Fire and Rescue station informed that a rescue team was dispatched to the location to help recover the victim's body from the riverbank.

Reports said Muhammad Fayyad was last seen leaving his home at the Drainage and Irrigation Department Quarters on Friday.

His family discovered his disappearance after reviewing CCTV footage, which showed him walking alone at 12.50pm.

A search and rescue operation was launched the same day and on Sunday, the authorities officially suspended the SAR operation after three days with no fresh leads. - March 31, 2025
