A TOTAL 112 people were injured in the pipeline fire incident at Taman Puchong Perdana, Selangor, with 49 victims still receiving treatment at a medical base set up at the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple.
Selangor deputy police chief Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan said another 63 victims have been sent to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
"37 homes in Taman Harmoni and 10 in the neighbouring Kampung Sungai Baru were affected by the blaze," he said.
"We have conducted initial checks on all affected premises to ensure no victims were left behind and a second round of inspections will be carried out as a precaution," he said.
He added that the affected area includes 49 premises, with 37 located in Taman Harmoni and 12 in Kampung Sungai Baru.
A total 78 personnel and 10 fire engines, four emergency medical rescue service vehicles, five water tankers and a hazardous materials team were deployed.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said his team received an emergency call about the incident at 8.10am, and firefighting operations are underway.
According to reports, several victims have arrived at the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang, some in critical condition.
The hospital has closed off some non-critical and semi-critical areas to the public to give priority to the fire victims. - April 1, 2025
