PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim welcomed a delegation from Oracle Corporation, a leading multinational technology firm from the United States, for a courtesy visit.

In a post on Facebook, Anwar shared that the discussions, led by Garrett Ilg, Oracle’s executive vice-president for Japan and Asia Pacific, revolved around the opportunities presented by AI-driven services, particularly those offered by Oracle.

He emphasised the need to enhance Malaysia’s talent and innovation landscape, stressing the importance of developing a skilled workforce equipped with essential digital competencies and promoting digital inclusivity.

“With global uncertainties arising from trade conflicts, Malaysia greatly appreciates the dedication and initiatives of investors, including those from the United States, in realising their investment plans,” he remarked.

In October of the previous year, Oracle revealed its intention to invest over US$6.5 billion (US$1=RM4.467) to set up a public cloud centre in Malaysia.

This investment will encompass more than 150 infrastructure and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, aimed at advancing Malaysia’s digital economy and fostering AI-driven innovation. – April 11, 2025
