PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during his official visit to Thailand, reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment as ASEAN Chair to actively seek a more sustainable and dignified resolution to the ongoing crisis in Myanmar, in line with the ASEAN framework.

Anwar, in his statement, emphasised Malaysia’s role in fostering peace and stability in the region. “As ASEAN Chair, Malaysia will continue to play a constructive role in seeking a more sustainable and dignified resolution to the crisis in Myanmar,” he said.

The two-day visit, which marked Anwar’s first trip to Thailand since Paetongtarn Shinawatra assumed office as the country’s first female Prime Minister, also provided an opportunity for the Malaysian leader to engage with major investors and industry leaders in Thailand.

“I also met with major investors and captains of Thai industries to promote Malaysia as a prime destination for quality investments. Strong regional economic ties are the foundation for shared prosperity,” Anwar stated.
