THE Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, has called on all Malaysians to uphold justice, integrity in governance, and environmental sustainability as guiding principles in both policy-making and daily life.
Speaking at the official opening of a landmark structure to mark his Silver Jubilee celebration in Padang Besar, the Raja of Perlis urged citizens to preserve noble values, strengthen family bonds, pursue knowledge, and maintain the state’s longstanding harmony.
“This small state holds great potential if it continues to be led with sincerity and a clear vision... let Perlis be known not only as a peaceful state, but also as one that wisely balances progress with heritage, modernity with values, and development with prosperity,” Bernama cited Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin saying.
Also in attendance at the event were the Raja Perempuan of Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid; the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail; and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
The Silver Jubilee celebrations, commemorating the Raja’s 25-year reign, began on 17 April with a Royal Banquet and will run until April 16, 2026, featuring a variety of events across the state.
Reflecting on his reign, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin expressed gratitude for the state’s steady advancement in economic development, infrastructure, education, and above all, the unity of its people.
“All of these achievements are not the result of individual efforts but rather of the strong cooperation between the people and the government, along with the unwavering support of all parties,” he said.
The newly unveiled landmark, situated prominently at the Padang Besar roundabout, was described by the Raja not merely as a physical structure, but as “a symbol of the integrity, unity, and the people’s love for the state.”
He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the people of Perlis for their loyalty and support over the past quarter century.
“I am deeply moved by the loyalty, sincerity, and respect they have shown throughout my reign,” Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said. - April 25, 2025
