KING of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim, has extended heartfelt congratulations to all personnel, veterans and former members of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) on the occasion of its 91st anniversary.
In a message shared via His Majesty’s official Facebook page, the King, who also serves as the Supreme Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces, expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering service and sacrifices made by RMN members in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and security.
“Al-Fatihah for those who have left us forever. May they be placed among the righteous and the martyrs,” His Majesty said.
Sultan Ibrahim also offered prayers for the continued strength and success of the Royal Malaysian Navy, expressing hope that it will remain a respected force on the international stage.
This year’s RMN Day celebration took place at the Lumut Naval Base in Perak and was marked with modest ceremonies.
Chief of Navy Admiral Datuk Dr Zulhelmy Ithnain explained that the scaled-down nature of the event was in respect of the tragic incident last year involving the collision of two RMN helicopters during a rehearsal, which claimed the lives of 10 personnel.
The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, also extended his heartfelt greetings to all members of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in celebration of its 91st anniversary.
In his capacity as Captain-in-Chief of the RMN, Sultan Sharafuddin conveyed his message through a post on the Selangor Royal Office’s official Instagram account, urging all ‘Navy People’ to continue honouring the force’s proud traditions and to remain steadfast in their role as the nation’s maritime defenders.
“His Royal Highness also hopes that every member of ‘The Navy People’ will continue to demonstrate loyalty and a strong fighting spirit for this beloved service,” the post read.
The Sultan expressed deep appreciation for the commitment, determination and team spirit shown by RMN personnel over the years, acknowledging their vital contributions to the safety and sovereignty of Malaysian waters.
Sultan Sharafuddin also called upon all Malaysians to remember and honour the sacrifices and struggles of past and present naval personnel who have served the nation with distinction.
His Royal Highness offered prayers for the continued protection and strength of all naval men and women, asking that they be granted courage and resilience by the grace of Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala. - April 27, 2025
