AN SUV crashed into the Laman Selera Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) food court on Jalan Kerja Air Lama, Ampang, after the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake while trying to park in a disabled bay.
The incident occurred at around 4.15pm yesterday. According to Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail, initial investigations revealed that the male driver lost control of the vehicle as he attempted to enter a parking space reserved for persons with disabilities.
“While trying to park the vehicle, the driver unintentionally pressed the accelerator pedal, causing the car to go out of control and veer into the food court area,” he said in a statement.
No injuries were reported, and the crash resulted only in damage to the vehicle and some premises equipment.
The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59). - May 2, 2025
