A MOTORIST’S reckless decision to drive a Perodua Axia against the flow of traffic ended in dramatic fashion when the vehicle became trapped between two lorries in Gelang Patah, Johor.
The incident, which occurred around 9am yesterday at Kilometre 4 of Jalan Gelang Patah–Ulu Choh in the direction of Kampung Ulu Pulai, was caught in two viral videos circulating on social media.
One six-second clip shows the Axia squeezing through the motorcycle lane amid traffic congestion, while another 18-second video captures the aftermath—an immobilised car, lacking a front number plate, wedged between two heavy vehicles.
Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, confirmed the details, revealing that the driver had entered the wrong lane while attempting to reach a nearby petrol station.
“The suspect drove against traffic for approximately 500 metres after mistakenly entering the wrong lane to get to the petrol station,” buletintv3.my citied him saying.
“The car also collided with a Toyota Vios before being trapped between two lorries.”
The suspect, a 26-year-old local man, presented himself at the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters (IPD) two hours after the incident.
Police are now seeking both lorry drivers to assist with the investigation, which is being conducted under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. - May 10, 2025
