THE Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has not yet received any official application to restrict access to the e-hailing platforms InDrive and Maxim, according to Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Speaking during a post-Cabinet press conference today, Bernma cited Fahmi saying the commission is prepared to act in accordance with existing legislation, should a formal request be made.

"At this moment, MCMC has not informed me of any application from the Ministry of Transport to take such action," he said.

"Action can be taken under the Communications and Multimedia Act, but we have yet to receive such a request.

"If and when one is submitted, MCMC will carry out its duties according to the law," he added.

His remarks follow recent statements by Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, who announced that Russian-based e-hailing services InDrive and Maxim have been ordered to cease operations effective 24 July.

According to Loke, the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has already issued cessation letters to both companies. - May 14, 2025
