PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), may take disciplinary action against Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli following alleged breaches of its internal election guidelines, with the decision to rest in the hands of the newly appointed Central Leadership Council (MPP).
Datuk Ahmad Kassim, Deputy Chairman of the party’s Central Election Committee (JPP), confirmed the matter is under review after Rafizi published a ‘cai’ or slate of endorsed candidates on his social media accounts during the campaign period—an act considered contrary to the 2025 PKR Election Guidelines.
“The matter will be evaluated once the election results are finalised. The JPP will convene and, if necessary, present a motion to the new leadership for further action,” Ahmad told Sinar Harian.
“Should the council find it appropriate, the matter will then be referred to the party’s Disciplinary Board for a conclusive ruling,” he added.
Ahmad said he personally issued a written warning to Rafizi within 24 hours of the post being made public, instructing him to take it down.
“I sent the warning privately and asked him to remove all related posts. As of today, I’ve received no response. It is now polling day,” he said on Friday.
Despite the directive, it was found the endorsement list was still accessible on Rafizi’s accounts as of the day of polling.
Earlier in the week, Rafizi publicly named his preferred candidates for several leadership positions, including four out of 12 individuals vying for vice-presidency.
His selections included, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan Datuk Aminuddin Harun and G. Manivanan the Political Secretary to the PKR President.
The release of the list has prompted concerns within the party over its alignment with PKR’s commitment to an equitable and transparent election process.
The incoming Central Leadership Council (MPP), tasked with guiding the party through its next chapter, will now face an early test of its governance principles as it deliberates on the matter. - May 23, 2025
