A WOMAN and her boyfriend have been arrested for allegedly neglecting her two daughters, aged four and 16, at their home in Puchong, following a report from the Social Welfare Department.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the authorities were alerted at 12.43 pm on Wednesday and immediately launched an investigation.

“Investigations revealed both victims were staying with their biological mother, 37, and her 42-year-old boyfriend,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

He added that urine tests found the woman negative for drugs, while her partner tested positive and was found to have eight prior narcotics-related offences.

Though medical checks found no signs of old injuries on the children, the home was described as dirty and unfit for habitation. Both girls are currently under hospital observation.

“The 16-year-old showed signs of emotional trauma and depression,” Wan Azlan said.

Five individuals have so far given their statements in connection with the case, which is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. Both suspects are being remanded until 10 June. - June 6, 2025
