A FORM Five student accused of murdering his mother and elder brother, and injuring his younger sibling, has been remanded for seven days beginning Friday (13 June), as police investigate the gruesome incident under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate N Sivashangari at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate’s Court and will remain in effect until 19 June.
The 17-year-old suspect, wearing a purple detainee’s uniform, arrived at court in a police vehicle at around 9am. Several family members were present and seen consulting with two lawyers representing the teen.
The suspect was arrested early Thursday morning after his mother, a 51-year-old primary school teacher, and his 21-year-old brother, a college student, were found stabbed to death in the living room of their home in Taman Rambai Mutiara, Bukit Rambai in Melaka.
The family’s youngest child, a 13-year-old boy, was found bleeding on the road outside the house and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit at Melaka Hospital. His condition has been described as stable.
Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar confirmed the attack took place around 5am. Preliminary investigations suggest the alleged killings were triggered by emotional strain and long-standing resentment, reportedly due to pressure the teen faced over academic performance.
Police are continuing to gather evidence to complete their investigation. - June 13, 2025
