HIS Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah have conveyed their heartfelt Father’s Day wishes to all fathers across the nation, recognising their pivotal role in family life.
In a message posted on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page, the King underscored the deep responsibilities and emotional strength fathers carry in shaping their families.
“A father is not only the backbone of the family, but also a source of strength and a guide in the lives of his children,” His Majesty said.
Expressing gratitude to fathers for their selflessness and devotion, Sultan Ibrahim added, “Thank you for all the sacrifices, love, and invaluable guidance. Although these may not always be expressed in words, a father’s deeds and love remain etched in the heart.”
His Majesty also offered prayers for his late father, Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, and for Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah II, asking for Allah’s continued blessings upon them.
“May Allah SWT also always bless the souls of Almarhum Ayahanda Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah II,” His Majesty said.
Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June each year to honour the contributions, sacrifices and protective role of fathers in family life.
Echoing His Majesty’s wish, a number of Malaysian ministers took to social media today to honour fathers across the country in celebration of Father’s Day, paying tribute to the love, sacrifices and steadfast roles that fathers play within the family unit.
Minister of Communications Datuk Fahmi Fadzil posted a warm message on Facebook, expressing gratitude to all fathers for their unwavering commitment and love.
“To fathers who always sacrifice for the happiness of their families – Happy Father’s Day. You are our hero. Your deeds will never be repaid,” he wrote.
“May the love and sacrifices of those we call fathers continue to be a source of strength and inspiration for us all. Thank you for everything.”
Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, extended her greetings both to her own father, Mustafa Mohd Salleh, and to her husband, Dr Ahmad Adzlan Musa, acknowledging their deep sense of responsibility and quiet resilience.
“The important role of a father in building a family’s strength must be appreciated,” she shared.
“As a daughter, I reflect on the sacrifices of my father, who raised us with sincerity and honesty. As a wife and mother, I witness how my husband fulfils his role with calm, patience, and presence. A father’s duty does not end with providing; he must also offer emotional support and be a partner in raising children in today’s increasingly complex world.”
Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching echoed similar sentiments, describing the father figure as the cornerstone of the family and a key influence on children’s futures.
“Today, we celebrate those who rarely ask for praise but always give unconditionally – and we call him father. A father’s love is forever. Grateful today and every day for you. Happy Father's Day,” she posted.
Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, also paid homage to fatherhood, saluting those who serve as unspoken pillars of strength.
“Today, we celebrate the true heroes of our lives – ayah, bapa, appa, papa, daddy. They are the shoulder to lean on. Though they seldom speak of love, their devotion never wanes,” he said.
“In silence, he sacrifices. In exhaustion, he endures. Through quiet acts, he leads by example. And through fatigue, he still smiles for the family. Without many words, his love remains eternal – he is the true hero in our lives.” - June 15, 2025
