TOH PUAN Na’imah Khalid, the widow of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, has filed a formal complaint with the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) alleging that the police have failed to act on a report she lodged nine months ago concerning a controversial Bloomberg article.
Na’imah claimed there has been no update or response from authorities since her police report was filed at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters in September 2023.
“It has been nine months, and no investigation has taken place. Until today, I don’t even know who the investigating officer is,” she said after submitting her complaint to the IPCC on Thursday.
“My lawyer contacted the police for updates on the case but received no answers. Letters were sent, but still no response. I filed a report with the IPCC because I want them to have the courage to investigate why police have not acted, especially when my report named the Prime Minister – and he has not even been questioned,” she added.
The police report, filed on 30 September 2023, was in response to an article by international financial news outlet Bloomberg. The piece cited anonymous sources claiming the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had been instructed to investigate Tun Daim, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and their children.
Na’imah contends that the allegations and subsequent legal actions taken against her and her late husband are part of a politically driven conspiracy targeting opponents of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. She alleged that state institutions and enforcement agencies were being manipulated to carry out these aims.
She also questioned the government’s decision to reappoint Tan Sri Azam Baki as MACC Chief Commissioner.
“Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Azam’s contract was extended because he is ‘brave enough to investigate’. But I fail to see the bravery in investigating someone who has passed away, his widow, and a man who is 100 years old,” she remarked in Putrajaya today. - June 19, 2025
