DEPUTY Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has congratulated Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail on his appointment as Malaysia’s 15th Inspector-General of Police (IGP), expressing full confidence in his ability to lead the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) with distinction.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Zahid said Mohd Khalid’s proven leadership track record, including his tenure as Director of the Special Branch at Bukit Aman and other strategic roles within the police force since 2018, demonstrated his preparedness to helm the country’s top policing role.
“Insya-Allah, under the leadership of Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid, I believe PDRM will continue to remain a trusted institution among the people and one respected by both allies and adversaries,” Zahid said.
Mohd Khalid, 60, succeeds Tan Sri Razarudin Husain as IGP. He has held several key positions within the police Special Branch, including as Head of Pahang Special Branch from 25 May 2018, before being appointed as Principal Assistant Director of E2, Bukit Aman Special Branch, on 6 September 2021.
In the same statement, Zahid extended his appreciation to Tan Sri Razarudin for his dedicated service during his tenure as Inspector-General.
