MALAYSIA is in the final stages of preparing its National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Action Plan, which will lay down a comprehensive governance framework to ensure AI development is aligned with ethical standards, social equity, and public interest.
Speaking at the United Nations Public Service Forum 2025 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the plan would target key sectors including education, healthcare, energy, and agriculture. It also aims to strengthen AI talent pipelines across the public service and among Malaysia’s youth.
“We are all aware that technology is not neutral. It must reflect the values of the society it serves,” Bernama cited Fadillah, who also serves as Minister for Energy Transition and Water Transformation saying today.
He emphasised that civil service reform must go hand-in-hand with systems transformation, noting that digitalisation now acts as both an enabler and accelerator of change.
Fadillah highlighted that, under the guidance of the MyDigital Blueprint and the Public Service Digitalisation Strategic Plan, Malaysia has already digitised more than 500 public services. These are increasingly being delivered through secure and integrated platforms, including MyDigital ID and real-time data dashboards.
