POLICE have recorded statements from 14 individuals including housemates and lecturers to assist in the investigation into the murder of a Bachelor of Physiotherapy student at a private university in Cyberjaya.
Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said that several other individuals will also be called in soon to complete the investigation.
According to him, their party is also seeking confirmation from the bank regarding transactions made using the automated teller machine (ATM) card belonging to the victim, Maniishapriet Kaur Akhar, after her death.
"Based on initial investigations, we believe this murder was committed by an individual known to the victim," he said when contacted by Astro Awani.
It was earlier reported that Maniishapriet Kaur, 20, was found dead in her home, believed to have been murdered on Tuesday morning.
The victim, who was originally from Sarawak, was found dead by a housemate with head injuries at approximately 10.28am in Mutiara Ville, Cyberjaya.
Norhizam had also said that police were analysing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in an effort to locate the suspect behind the murder. - June 26, 2025
