THREE suspects have been remanded for seven days beginning Thursday in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old private university student at her condominium unit in Cyberjaya earlier this week.
The suspects, one male and two females aged between 19 and 20, were brought in handcuffs to the Sepang Magistrate’s Court at approximately 8.30am under tight police escort.
Sepang Sessions Court Judge Azaraorani Abdul Rahman issued the remand order, which will be in effect until 3 July. The trio were seen leaving the court premises at around 9.45am.
The murder, which has shocked the local university community, was reported on Tuesday.
According to police, the victim, a Bachelor of Physiotherapy student, was discovered dead by a friend at around 10am. She had been staying alone in the unit since 21 June, after her five housemates left for the holidays.
Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman confirmed the arrest of the suspects and said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“This is a serious offence, and we are pursuing all angles in our investigation,” he said.
The police have not released further details regarding motive or cause of death, but the remand period is expected to allow for more thorough investigation and collection of forensic evidence.
The case has sparked public concern over student safety in private residences and highlights the need for increased vigilance and community support structures for young people living away from home. - June 27, 2025
