THE Government has secured RM4 billion in potential investments and RM675 million in export prospects following a high-level trade and investment mission to France on 4 July 2025, led by Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the delegation included Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, alongside senior representatives from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
During the mission, the Prime Minister held talks with 40 French industry leaders, many of whom expressed concrete interest in expanding into Malaysia’s high-impact sectors, including high-tech manufacturing, aerospace, renewable energy, tourism and hospitality, the digital economy, and sustainable infrastructure.
These sectors are central to Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the government’s Green Investment Strategy.
Export prospects valued at RM675 million were also identified across key growth areas such as aerospace, automotive, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, the digital economy, lifestyle and Halal industries, MITI said in a statement released on Sunday.
French companies cited Malaysia’s favourable investment climate, efficient domestic supply chains, highly skilled workforce, and pro-business policies as key factors underpinning their confidence.
“The overall success of this mission reflects many foreign companies’ continued confidence in Malaysia's investor-friendly policies, supply chain ecosystem, competitiveness and economic growth potential,” said Tengku Zafrul.
“The investment and trade potential to be realised will also provide business opportunities for local companies, including Small and Medium Enterprises, and more high-paying jobs for Malaysians. All these are key in driving our MADANI economic transformation agenda.”
The mission formed part of the Prime Minister’s wider official working visit to Italy, France and Brazil from 1 to 8 July 2025. Other ministers accompanying him included those responsible for Foreign Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Food Security, Defence, and Law and Institutional Reform, along with the Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation.
