TWO teenagers, one a minor, have been remanded in custody for three and five days respectively by the Magistrate's Court in Muar today, to assist investigations into the robbery and rape of a public university student in Pagoh last Monday.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Fatin Dalilah Khalid, with the 19-year-old suspect remanded for five days and the 17-year-old for three days, effective from today.
Police are investigating the case under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery, and the remand for Section 376 of the same code for rape.
The incident reportedly occurred at 8:30 PM on 7th July when the 20-year-old victim was pillion riding on her 23-year-old boyfriend's motorcycle.
As they were passing through Jalan Kampung Jawa, Panchor, they were stopped by the two suspects, who were on another motorcycle, and demanded cash.
The suspects then took a handbag containing RM250, but stated the amount was insufficient. One of the suspects subsequently punched the male victim, causing him to fall, and instructed him to leave his girlfriend with them.
The two suspects then took the victim on a motorcycle to a nearby palm oil plantation where she was allegedly raped.
Following the incident, the suspects dropped the victim back at her campus.
A police report was subsequently lodged by the victim and her boyfriend at the Panchor Police Station on the same day. - July 9, 2025
