TUN Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted at the National Heart Institute (IJN) for observation after feeling fatigue following a cycling event this morning

He was allowed to return home at 5pm

Dr Mahathir had earlier attended a picnic and potluck family programme at the Putrajaya Lake.

He arrived at 7.45am by driving himself there before cycling in tandem with another cyclist around the lake accompanied by security officers.

However, after completing the eight to ninth kilometre round, he was seen to be exhausted and sat down to rest on a chair for a while before heading to the breakfast table.

His eldest son Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir said that his father did not have any apparent health issues but was tired after attending a gala dinner yesterday and was short of sleep.

He said that this morning, Dr Mahathir cycled quite a distance, so he felt a little tired.

"After having breakfast and eating some kuih and coffee, he felt refreshed," he said.

Dr Mahathir has been busy in the past three days after marking his birthday.

He was seen working at his office, followed by a media briefing and last night, he attended a gala dinner in his honour to mark his birthday. – July 13, 2025
