A HOUSEWIFE has pleaded not guilty at the Magistrates’ Court in Shah Alam on Thursday to three charges related to the unlawful possession of 205 Malaysian passports, identification cards belonging to others, and a forged MyKad.
N Paarvathy, 41, entered her plea before Magistrate Muhammad Syafiq Sulaiman after the charges were read out in court.
According to the first charge, she was found in possession of 205 Malaysian passports, allegedly in violation of Section 12(1)(f) of the Passport Act 1966, punishable under Section 12(1) of the same Act, which carries a maximum fine of RM10,000, a prison term of up to five years, or both upon conviction.
The second and third charges accuse her of having in her possession three MyKad belonging to men aged 19, 21, and 31 without reasonable excuse, as well as one counterfeit identification card under the name of a 24-year-old man.
These offences are framed under Regulations 25(1)(o) and 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990, which carry penalties of up to three years in prison, a maximum fine of RM20,000, or both.
All alleged offences took place at a residential unit in Taman Puchong Hartamas at around 12.10am on 11 July.
During the hearing, Deputy Public Prosecutor Norhidayah Abdullah Sani proposed bail of RM30,000 for all charges, with an additional condition that the accused report to the nearest police station once a month.
However, defence counsel Yogamani M Marappan appealed for a lower bail amount, citing his client’s unemployment and her reliance on her husband’s income.
“She poses no flight risk and has fully cooperated with the authorities throughout the investigation, including during her 28-day remand,” he said. “She is also willing to comply with the bail conditions, as she has no ties to the individuals named in the case.”
After considering arguments from both sides, Magistrate Muhammad Syafiq granted bail of RM15,000 for all charges combined and set 22 September for the next mention of the case. - August 7, 2025
