A MAN is on the run after allegedly assaulting a driving school instructor in full view of witnesses at the Parit Sulong police station compound.
The victim, aged 56, had sought refuge there after being followed and harassed on the road
Police are actively searching for a suspect who allegedly attacked a 56-year-old driving school instructor outside the Parit Sulong police station in Batu Pahat, Johor, on Monday afternoon.
The incident unfolded after the instructor, who had earlier been followed and threatened by a motorcyclist, drove to the police station in a bid to file a report. As he entered the station's compound, the motorcyclist reportedly confronted and struck him.
According to reports, the instructor had been driving four students from Muar to Taman Mutiara when the suspect began tailing the vehicle. Upon reaching Parit Tegak along the Muar–Batu Pahat road, the motorcyclist allegedly began shouting and striking the car without provocation.
Confirming the case, Batu Pahat District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said, “Police suspect the assailant was wearing a ring when he struck the victim, which may have caused the injuries.”
Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene and remains at large. “The victim was injured and has been taken to hospital for further treatment,” Shahrulanuar added.
A 1-minute and 48-second video of the confrontation has since gone viral on social media. The footage, recorded by one of the students in the car, shows the motorcyclist following the vehicle while shouting aggressively.
Sensing danger, the instructor reportedly instructed all students to exit the vehicle and flee to his home, before driving alone to the police station to seek help.
Police are urging the public to assist with any information that may lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect. Investigations are ongoing. - August 13, 2025
