HIS MAJESTY Sultan Ibrahim, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Supreme Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces, presided over the 60th anniversary parade of the Gerak Khas Regiment at Kem Iskandar in Mersing today.
The occasion was marked by full regalia, including the presence of key members of the Johor royal family and senior military leadership.
His Majesty, serving also as Colonel Commandant of the Gerak Khas Regiment, was accompanied by DYAM Tunku Mahkota Ismail, the Regent of Johor.
They were joined by YAM Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj and YAM Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj—Prince and Chief Duke of Johor respectively—as well as Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Chief of the Armed Forces General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar, and Army Chief General Tan Sri Dato’ Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan.
The parade featured five detachments led by Colonel Mohd Nizam bin Moladi from the 22nd Commando Regiment, comprising 18 officers and 173 personnel drawn from the Gerak Khas Regiment, 21st and 22nd Commando Regiments, as well as the Combined Unit and Special Warfare Training Centre (PULPAK).
Musical accompaniment was provided by the bands of the Royal Armour Corps and the State Deputy Soldiers of Johor.
In a parallel statement, Lieutenant General Datuk Tengku Muhammad Fauzi Tengku Ibrahim, Deputy Army Commander, emphasised the military’s zero-tolerance stance against betrayal within its ranks.
He pledged full cooperation with the MACC in the ongoing investigations into senior army officers detained over alleged collusion with smuggling syndicates.
“There will be no compromise with betrayers of the nation,” Tengku Muhammad Fauzi declared after officiating the closing of the Rapid Deployment Team Basic Course (APAC) Series 2/2025. He added that any individual, regardless of rank, found to have leaked military secrets or abetted illicit activities—including drug trafficking—would face justice under both civil and military laws.
He warned that such acts taint both personal honour and the Armed Forces’ reputation, undermining public trust in their loyalty and service.
The arrests were part of “Op Sohor,” a concerted operation by the MACC last Thursday which disrupted a smuggling ring involving senior military personnel operating in southern Malaysia. - August 17, 2025
