THE Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has successfully identified the individual behind the TikTok account “Dato’ Prof Dr. Tunku Iskandar,” who had falsely presented himself as a pathologist and claimed involvement in the autopsy of the late Zara Qairina.
The Malaysian Ministry of Health has confirmed that the suspect is not, in fact, a qualified pathologist.
The individual was located near Kota Damansara late last night following information obtained from the recorded statements of two persons who had participated in a TikTok Live session with the suspect.
He was subsequently brought to the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD Dang Wangi) for further questioning. Authorities also seized his communication devices for forensic analysis.
In a statement, MCMC emphasised that “the dissemination of false information, particularly concerning sensitive matters such as death, tragedy, or accident victims, constitutes a serious offence that can distress the families involved, mislead the public, and interfere with official investigations.”
The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 \[Act 588]. The investigation papers will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further directives.
If convicted under Act 588, the offender may face a fine of up to RM500,000, imprisonment for up to two years, or both.
The Royal Malaysia Police are also conducting investigations under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(B) of the Penal Code.
