AN accident involving a Honda Civic on SS17, Subang Jaya on August 13, led to the discovery of drugs worth RM7 million.
Subang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said they were informed about the incident at about 11.30 am after receiving a call from the public.
According to him, policemen who arrived at the location found that there was no driver inside or near the car involved.
"A search found four sacks containing 78 plastic packages in the back, while seven sacks containing 130 plastic packages were found in the boot.
"In total, police seized 11 sacks with 208 plastic packages containing syabu drugs weighing 220.16 kilograms worth RM7 million," he told a press conference.
He said that the police are now actively tracking an individual known as Mohd Rahmat Hanafi, 32, with an address in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, after finding an identity card in the vehicle involved.
He added that a check found that the man had six criminal records and nine past drug cases.
He said the vehicle used a fake registration number.
"Investigations are still underway to determine whether the accident also involved other vehicles or just the Honda Civic.
"It is believed that the man is still in the country and we are looking into his role and the source of the drugs," he said.
Wan Azlan also asked the public, including road users who have information or dashcam footage, to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting investigating officer, Inspector Mohamad Saifullah Rosdi at 017-9065674 or the nearest police station.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - August 22, 2025
