THE deaths of two private university students who fell from a condominium in Taman Melati on 20 August in separate incidents, are unrelated and the deceased individuals did not know each other, according to police.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said investigations and witness statements confirmed that the victims, although enrolled at the same university, were not acquainted.
"However, further investigations are ongoing and being conducted thoroughly, including into allegations of bullying," he said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters today.
"We will take all factors and evidence into account to determine whether bullying could have led to suicide," he added.
The cases are currently being investigated under Section 507B of the Penal Code as well as classified as Sudden Death Reports (SDR).
Earlier reports stated that two students died after falling from height in two separate incidents within a 24-hour period at the same condominium in Taman Melati.
In the first incident, which occurred at 6.48am, a 22-year-old female student reportedly fell from the 22nd floor and was found on the eighth floor before being pronounced dead. A post-mortem revealed the cause of death was multiple injuries sustained from the fall, with no signs of foul play discovered at the scene.
In the second incident at 9.35pm, a 21-year-old male student fell from the 35th floor and was found at the back of the condominium. He was confirmed dead at the scene. - August 28, 2025
