FOREIGN Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has called for Israel’s suspension from the United Nations, citing the country’s continued aggression and disregard for international norms in its military campaign against Palestinians in Gaza.
“It is time Israel is suspended or expelled from the United Nations,” Mohamad said on Thursday, adding that the international community must collectively reject what he described as an “unprecedented international arrogance” by the Zionist regime.
He said Israel’s ambition to seize all Palestinian land and forcibly transfer residents of Gaza to a third country was unacceptable and must be stopped.
“The Zionist regime aims to take over Gaza. This is a grave act of international insolence, as they not only continue their inhumane killings, but also weaponise food by halting supplies to Palestinian civilians,” he said.
“Those who come for food supplies are shot on the spot — nearly 2,000 have been shot while collecting aid. This is modern-day colonialism,” he added during a press briefing after distributing aid to more than 200 recipients in Rantau.
Mohamad further condemned Israel’s alleged breach of the ceasefire in Gaza and its refusal to heed international demands to halt violence.
He said he had already raised the matter at an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers, where all OIC nations unanimously rejected Israel’s intentions to take full control of Gaza.
“I will continue to repeat this call — for Israel to be suspended or removed from the international community,” he said.
He also reiterated that economic and military sanctions must be imposed on Israel, particularly regarding weapons used against Palestinian civilians.
“The international community must no longer turn a blind eye to what the Zionist regime has done to the Palestinian people,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia Walid Abu Ali also voiced strong opposition to any suggestion of relocating Gaza’s population to a third country, including Sudan South, stating firmly, “There is no such thing as a second home.” - August 28, 2025
