THE lawyer representing the mother of Syamsul Haris Shamsudin, Datuk Naran Singh, handed over a pendrive containing a recording of an individual who claimed to have been present when the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Reserve Officers’ Training Unit (Palapes) cadet was injured and saw what happened.
The audio recording was handed over to Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Prosecution and Legal Division (D5) principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Fazley Ab Rahman.
Naran said they also handed over a file containing a 44-page transcript of the recording and photos of the deceased before and after the incident.
“We will also submit a set of documents of what happened at the Shah Alam Court when we request a second autopsy and most importantly we will submit the USB.
“The USB contains a recording of individual ‘A’, who was at the scene, he named the people involved in this incident. So this is enough information for the police to investigate,” he said.
"We hope this new evidence will give the police a credible lead in the investigation. So far, the investigating officer has been very cooperative and helpful," he added.
Meanwhile, he said the autopsy process has been going smoothly so far and the reburial is expected this evening or tonight. - August 30, 2025
