OVER 100,000 Malaysians converged on Dataran Putrajaya to celebrate National Day 2025, in a magnificent display of unity and patriotism that highlighted the people’s enduring love for the nation.
The event was graced by the presence of His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah.
Also in attendance were the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, the Deputy Prime Ministers, members of the Cabinet, and foreign ambassadors and consuls stationed in Malaysia. His Highness Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Temenggong Johor, was also present, accompanying Their Majesties.
This year’s celebration adopted the theme ‘Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni’, reflecting the government’s pledge to prioritise the welfare of its people in line with the core values of the Malaysia MADANI framework, which places emphasis on unity, compassion and societal wellbeing.
The highlight of the day was a grand parade and march-past featuring 14,062 participants, showcasing marching bands, live assets, vehicles, and contingents representing vital national sectors including the economy, telecommunications, creative industries, sports and national security.
In a first, the celebration welcomed the ASEAN Chairmanship Contingent, symbolising Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair in 2025, alongside the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) Contingent, marking a preview of the nation’s upcoming tourism campaign.
Further enlivening the festivities was the Malaysia MADANI Special Performance featuring 1,000 performers from the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN), a Human Graphic Terrace display by 2,000 students under the coordination of the Ministry of Education (KPM), and military demonstrations by the Malaysian Armed Forces, including a bagpipe performance and aerial showcase.
The morning parade concluded with a stirring rendition of the official National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 theme song by National Songstress, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza, delighting the audience and closing the ceremony on a high patriotic note. - August 31, 2025
