A LABOURER pleaded not guilty to charges of insulting the modesty of a woman and trespassing, following an incident in which he is accused of spying on a datin while she was bathing at a private holiday villa.
Ahmad Farhan Rizal Abdullah, 29, entered the plea before Magistrate Nor Mazrinie Mahmood in the Kuala Terengganu Magistrates’ Court today.
According to the first charge, the accused is alleged to have acted with the intent to insult the modesty of the victim – an offence under Section 509 of the Penal Code. The alleged incident occurred at Villa Zafran Private Pool in Kampung Banggol Manir at around 12.30am on 26 August.
If convicted, he faces a prison term of up to five years, a fine, or both.
The second charge, also related to the same date, time and location, accuses him of criminal trespass under Section 448 of the Penal Code for unlawfully entering the premises.
The court granted Ahmad Farhan bail set at RM6,000 for both charges combined and fixed 5 October for mention of the case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Anith Nabilah Rusli appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by lawyer Azlina Jaafar.
Earlier reports revealed that the incident disrupted the victim’s holiday and product photography session at the homestay. The woman, who had travelled from Kuala Lumpur, claimed she saw a hand holding a mobile phone through the bathroom window and immediately screamed for her husband.
In a separate courtroom, the same accused pleaded guilty to a drug-related charge.
He was found to have misused methamphetamine, an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Magistrate Iffah Nabihah Mohd Ishak sentenced him to six months in prison for the drug offence. - Sept 3, 2025
