MALAYSIA has reaffirmed its commitment to regional green energy integration with the launch of the ENEGEM Auction 2025, an initiative that will enable the continued export of green electricity from Malaysia to Singapore.
The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), in a press statement issued on Friday, announced that this auction will allow eligible electricity generation companies, retailers or wholesalers in Singapore to bid for green electricity sourced from Malaysia's power system for supply to end-users in the republic.
This effort forms part of Malaysia’s broader energy transition strategy and supports regional ambitions for electricity supply integration across ASEAN.
The ENEGEM platform, which was established on 15 April 2024, provides a dedicated mechanism to facilitate cross-border renewable energy trade based on the Guide for Cross-Border Electricity Sales (CBES).
Green electricity exports from Malaysia to Singapore officially began on 13 December 2024, with deliveries of up to 50 megawatts (MW) completed to date.
PETRA has invited interested parties in Singapore holding the relevant generation, retail, or wholesale electricity licences to register for the ENEGEM Auction 2025 via the Single Buyer’s website from 8 September 2025.

“The implementation of this bidding process through ENEGEM will enable Malaysia to further strengthen the framework for cross-border electricity supply,” PETRA stated. “It also opens up wider opportunities for development and collaboration in the green energy sector across ASEAN.”
