THE civil suit filed by Deputy PAS president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man against Pandan MP Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli in relation to statements made during the 15th General Election period has been resolved amicably, with both parties agreeing to a mutual settlement outside of court.
The lawsuit, filed on 17 November 2022 in the Kuala Lumpur High Court under case number WA-23CY-54-11/2022, concerned media statements made by Rafizi questioning the conduct of a caretaker minister in relation to a major flood mitigation project.
The statements referenced an alleged attempt by the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA), under the caretaker government, to award the RM2 billion Sungai Langat 2 flood mitigation project to Mangkubumi Sdn Bhd while YB Tuan Ibrahim was serving as Minister.
Rafizi stated that his comments were based on documents and information obtained from credible sources. However, in the spirit of reconciliation and to avoid any misunderstanding among the public, he has agreed to remove all related social media posts under his control that refer to the matter.
“It is acknowledged that the involvement of Tuan Ibrahim in the awarding of the Sungai Langat 2 project was not the primary focus of the earlier statements made,” the joint statement read.
As such, the issue of Tuan Ibrahim’s alleged involvement no longer arises between the parties. Consequently, Tuan Ibrahim has agreed to withdraw the civil suit.
In a joint statement issued on 9 September 2025, both leaders expressed a shared view that the dispute should be set aside in the interest of public harmony and political stability.
“In the spirit of mature resolution, we agree that any differences or misunderstandings in this matter should be set aside for the greater good of society and the nation,” they said.
The case is now considered closed, following an out-of-court resolution. - September 9, 2025
