PARTI Bersatu Sabah (PBS) will contest under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) logo in the upcoming state election, saud its information chief, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.

He stressed that PBS will remain with GRS and continue to build a strong platform to promote unity.

"We are a united front and will contest under one logo," he said as reported by The New Straits Times.

Joniston cited Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as an example, where local parties contest under a common logo.

"Let us in Sabah also contest on a common logo under GRS," said Joniston, who is also the Sabah Tourism Board chairman.

Asked if using the GRS logo would affect votes for PBS, Joniston said it was the party's duty to explain the matter to its supporters.

On the exit of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) and Sabah Progressive Party's (SAPP) from GRS, he said they left because they wanted to use their own logos.

"If you want to contest under your own logo, you have to leave," he said.

On the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PBS and Star, Joniston said the two parties had yet to meet after Star left GRS.

He said that while both parties are now on a different path, they could still find a way to honour the MoU, which was signed last year to work together in the state election.

"But the MoU, as far as I'm concerned, is still binding because we have not met yet to terminate it mutually," he said. - October 13, 2025
