FORMER Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar will appear in a programme organised by Umno Youth, further fuelling speculation that he will return to the party soon.
Khairy will appear as a panelist in the National Round Table Consultation (RIMBUN 1.0) programme at the Umno Auditorium, Menara Dato’ Onn, Kuala Lumpur on November 7.
The programme, themed Reform of the Education System in the Age of AI and Empowerment of the Teaching Institution, was announced by Umno Youth Chief, Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh on his Facebook account on Friday.
It also features former Education Minister, Prof.Dr Maszlee Malik and Akmal Salleh as panelists alongside Khairy, while Mohammad Sollehin Mohamad Tajie served as moderator.
Previously, a source close to Khairy confirmed the former Rembau MP had already received the blessing of the party’s top leadership, particularly its president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to return to Umno’s fold.
In fact, a photo of him and Ahmad Zahid meeting while attending the wedding of the daughter of Perlis Umno Liaison Chairman Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman went viral on social media.
It is understood that Ahmad Zahid also asked Khairy to submit a membership form to return to the party.
In January 2023, Khairy was expelled from Umno for openly criticising the party’s top leadership during the 15th general election campaign.
