KOTA KINABALU – Sabah needs China’s assistance and support to boost the state’s economic growth, and the state government will enhance its existing good relationship and two-way collaboration with China, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Md Noor in a press release today.
“Our state needs help and support from China, particularly in tourism, real estate investment, and (development in) infrastructure and agriculture sectors, to boost our economic growth.
“Sabah has benefited from the good relationship between China and Malaysia, especially in trade and economy,” Hajiji said.
He said this when receiving a courtesy visit from Liang Caide, from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu at the state administrative centre here today.
During his visit, Liang presented Hajiji with 50,000 face masks as a donation from the consulate and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia.
Liang gave assurance that China will continue to cooperate and support Sabah when needed because of close ties between China and Malaysia.
He also expressed confidence that Sabah, under the leadership of Hajiji, would be able to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Representing the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah government, Hajiji thanked the China government for all of its donations and assistance in fighting against Covid-19.
He said the Sabah Economic Advisory Council will soon visit China to attract more investors to the state once the pandemic is under control. – The Vibes, December 28, 2020
