KUALA LUMPUR – In two days, Singapore will start vaccinating its healthcare workers against Covid-19, reported The Straits Times.
The programme will start with staff at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases, followed by other health institutions in the next few weeks.
In February, the government had also said that those aged 70 and older will get priority to be vaccinated.
The Health Ministry yesterday said this is in line with recommendations by an expert committee as frontliners and the elderly are the groups most at risk of contracting Covid-19.
Singapore had on December 22 received its batch of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had announced on December 14 that Covid-19 vaccines would be made free to all Singaporeans and long-term residents.
Meanwhile, Malaysia is expecting to start rolling out the vaccine from as early as February. – The Vibes, December 28, 2020
