For safety reasons, Jalan Masjid India has been temporarily closed to vehicles - November 10, 2025

A SINKHOLE was detected on Jalan Bunus, Masjid India opposite the Bombay Jewellery premises in Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in a statement said that teams from several agencies including Air Selangor, Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) and police from the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) are at the location to conduct investigations and assess the situation in the area.

“For safety reasons, Jalan Masjid India has been temporarily closed to vehicles starting from Lorong Masjid India 4 (next to the mosque) to the affected area.

“Public safety is our priority. Monitoring and technical work will continue, and further developments will be communicated from time to time,” it said.

Last year, Indian tourist G. Vijaya Lakshmi was tragically swallowed by a sinkhole that suddenly opened beneath her feet as she walked along Jalan Masjid India.

Despite extensive search and rescue operations involving multiple agencies, she was never found. - November 10, 2025
