PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that a Federal Treasury officer will travel to Sabah on Monday to begin technical discussions on the state’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement, stressing that the federal administration is committed to implementing the arrangement rather than disputing it.
“What we want is the implementation of the 40 per cent. We should not insult past leaders,” New Straits Times cited him saying today when asked about the Attorney-General’s Chambers appealing the grounds of the court judgment on the matter.
Anwar, who also chairs Pakatan Harapan, arrived at Kota Kinabalu International Airport’s Terminal 2 at 1.45pm to commence a two-day working visit to the state.
His programme began with the Young People’s Dialogue with the Prime Minister at the International Technology and Commercial Centre (ITCC) in Penampang at 2pm, followed by the Ziarah Kasih programme in the Petagas state constituency at Kampung Duvanson, Putatan.
The Prime Minister was also scheduled to visit victims of the Kampung Petagas fire at 4.20pm before attending a major ceramah and dinner with Kota Kinabalu’s Chinese community at the Putera Ballroom in Kampung Padang.
Later in the evening, he was due to headline the PM Sayang Sabah ceramah for the Petagas constituency at the Pan Borneo Hotel, followed by a similar event in Inanam at the Inanam New Township car park.
Tomorrow, Anwar is expected to continue engagements with local leaders, beginning with a community session in the Tulid state constituency at 10.30am at Padang Kampung Menawo Ulu, Keningau, followed by another at 12.20pm in the Melalap constituency at Dewan Datuk OKK Sanggau Jalang, Tenom.
The Election Commission has set polling day for Sabah’s 17th state election on 29 November, with early voting scheduled for 25 November. - November 15, 2025
